ReSource has signed an agreement with Norðurá bs. regarding environmental monitoring at the Stekkjarvík landfill site.
Norðurá bs. operates the landfill, which is located on the Sölvabakki estate near Blönduós. The intermunicipal company is owned by three municipalities in Northwest Iceland, while the landfill’s service area covers most of North Iceland.
Under the agreement, ReSource will carry out the environmental monitoring required under Stekkjarvík’s operating permit. This includes sampling of water and seawater, as well as landfill gas measurements.
The monitoring results will be published on the Stekkjarvík website, and the data will also be stored and made accessible through the eLandfill web interface.
