Life Cycle Analysis – LCA

LCA is an analysis that calculates the environmental impact of a product or service for its entire life, from cradle to grave.

LCA analysis covers all aspects of the value chain, raw material extraction, production and packaging, transport, use and disposal/recycling.

LCA analysis also includes a thorough assessment of the energy and materials required in the product value chain. Thus, the cumulative potential environmental impact is assessed in a holistic matter.

Environmental Product Declaration – EPD

 

ReSource International has completed numerous EPD documents that have been certified for manufacturers and are used to responding quickly and efficiently to the wishes of our customers. 

EPD is designed around the quality standard ISO 14025 and EN 15804. Obtaining EPD certification for your product or service does not make it more environmentally friendly than other products or services. However, it confirms what the environmental footprint is for the entire value chain of the product and ensures transparency.

An EPD is a verified and certified document that communicates transparent information about the environmental impact of products in a credible manner.

Environmental declarations are all based on Life cycle analysis – LCA and are made according to international standards (EN 15804/ISO 14025).

They are recognized by an independent third party and are therefore reliable information about the environmental footprint of the product or service.

Environmental statements allow users to compare similar products in terms of environmental impact.

What is an EPD?

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is an internationally recognized certification of transparent and comparable information regarding the environmental impact that occurs during the lifetime of a product and/or service by a manufacturer. The EPD is based on the Life Cycle Analysis of the product presented in a standardized and transparent way. With environmental declarations, manufacturers publish comparable, objective and certified data that show the good and the bad about the environmental performances of their products and services.

What are the benefits of making an EPD?

Today, it is not a question of whether companies and consumers care more about environmental issues, but how much. Public bodies pay more and more attention to environmental issues, and environmental certifications are often a condition for participating in tenders. When making purchasing decisions from suppliers, environmentally certified products can make a difference and increase their competitiveness and EPDs are the answer to these requirements.
